Meet Our Board
Our dedicated volunteers lead the Des Moines Metro Pickleball Club with passion and commitment to growing the sport we all love.
Golda Curry
Golda was invited by a friend's collegiate daughter to play pickleball and was thrown into a trial-by-fire Smashpark women's league. She did not know the rules of the kitchen, how scoring worked, nor if it was her turn to serve. By the third night, she got tired of losing, figured the advantage of being at the NVZ line and never looked back. The "Brown Hair Don't Care" team was a second placer and the addiction became enormous and real. Golda scoured the local Des Moines pickleball scene online and stumbled onto the Valley Community Center's lesson offerings. She took the lessons and played with the morning folks while drinking some of the best black coffee around. Since then, she joined the DMMPC Board, brained up some activities and events, and continues to imagine going pro... wwithout the pain, financial investment, and dedication. If you see her running wild and free chasing that yellowish ball, send her awave. If she has her glasses on, she probably will see you and wave back. Do ignore the occasional expletives that easily slip past her lips when she's playing. It's just her unique way of expressing love for the game! Golda has served on the DMMPC as an At-Large Member, Vice President and is the current President. She coordinates both signature Club tournaments, PicklePalooza and Silver Swiss. She also manhandles her friends and good acquaintances to provide raffle baskets and silent auction items for the annual Gala. Oh and she is a certified PPR coach!
Saed Ibsais
Saed “The Cyclone” Ibsais is a Technology Engineer by day, and a Pickleball Pro on the nights and weekends. Entering the Pickleball arena only 3 years ago, Saed DUPR rating quickly climbed the local and regional ranks. He continues to compete in Senior Pro Pickleball against top world players in National Pickleball League (NPL), APP, and PPA tournaments. Saed is the USA Pickleball District Ambassador for State of Iowa. Saed is an Iowa State graduate and resides locally in the Des Moines metro area. When he is not on the pickleball court he can be found traveling the world, hiking a trail, or spending time with friends and family.
Doug Smith
Doug is a retired CPA who started playing pickleball in 2022. His tennis background allowed him to pick up the game quickly, but also labeled him a “banger.” Through therapy (practice, lessons and drills), he is slowing developing a soft game. Doug frustrates many of his opponents with his angle volleys, but they get revenge when he pops up another dink for easy target practice. Doug joined the board in September 2023 as treasurer and enjoys keeping the finances in order and keeping the board on the straight and narrow.
Cindy De Glopper
Cindy joined the board in 2025 and uses her organizational skills behind the scenes to produce meeting minutes and event promotional materials and helps with the website. She also assists in the creation and production of trophies, medals and other pickleball themed prizes for club sponsored events.
Mark Boehm
Mark started playing in 2021 and joined the board in 2023. He enjoys Pickleball so much, that he wanted to help others learn the sport or improve in their pickleball journey, so he obtained his IFP instructors' certification in 2022 and began teaching adults, couples, and kids through school clinics, VCC summer camp, youth tournaments, youth skills contests and the VCC Friday youth homeschoolers program. Also, he initiated the Youth Pickleball Scholarship program through DMMPC and became involved in promoting sanctioning high school pickleball as a sport in IA. Pickleball has so much promise for all ages, so he hopes to stay involved in some aspect of it as long as his body will allow!
Ray Hansen
Sherry Clingman
Sherry has been playing pickleball for five years, first learning the game through the Valley Community Center's pickleball lessons. She loves playing outdoors whenever the Iowa weather cooperates and has been an active volunteer with DMMPC social events for the past two years. Sherry currently leads the club's Monthly Social Events, serves on the Gala Committee for the second year, and is in her second year as an at-large board member. She's passionate about building community and helping grow the love of pickleball across the Des Moines metro.
Brian Loynachan
Brian began playing pickleball six years ago and quickly developed a passion for the sport. He has served on the club’s board for the past two years and currently leads the initiative to expand pickleball opportunities in high schools, helping grow the game for the next generation. A certified PPR coach, Brian enjoys teaching and mentoring players almost as much as he enjoys being on the court himself.
Chuck Golliher
Chuck began playing pickleball nearly 10 years ago as a snowbird in Florida. He returned to Iowa where the passion only grew stronger. He is a charter member of the original DMMPC helping to get the club off the ground. He served as an at-large member, treasurer and ultimately president for 5 years. He is now easing his way off the board but remains as an Advisor as the only original Board member. You can find Chuck at the Valley Community Center where he and has wife have facilitated pickleball there for over 7 years. They also coordinate the free training at that location.
